Interior and Local Government Secretary Mar Roxas personally handed over the checks from the Recovery Assistance on Yolanda (RAY-II) Fund to local government units in Aklan on June 13.

Aklan will receive P80.175 million out of P238.6 million funded for Panay Island for the post-Yolanda rehabilitation efforts of 202 facilities in 186 barangays across 16 municipalities.

The RAY funds are allocated for the construction of barangay facilities such as barangay halls, daycare centers and civic centers in Aklan.

Initially, Roxas distributed checks to LGUs with complete documents in the amount of P37.823 million.

Roxas, who is also the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council's vice chairman for Disaster Preparedness, has reminded the town mayors in Aklan to submit all the required documents to avail the remaining P42.229-million RAY funds second release.

Also present during the distribution of checks were Aklan top officials led by Aklan Governor Florencio Miraflores, Vice Governor Gabrielle Calizo-Quimpo and Aklan Rep. Teodorico Haresco, Jr. and the local chief executives.

Nagasalig ako diri sa Aklan that we will continue to lead the battle against hunger and poverty,” Roxas said.

Last year, Aklan province received roughly P27.006-million funded from RAY-Batch 1 out P1.74-billion for the rehabilitation and reconstruction of facilities in Yolanda-affected areas.
