Infra projects up in Kalibo

The town of Kalibo, through the Municipal Engineer’s Office, is pursuing the implementation of infrastructure projects and rehabilitation of facilities in the barangays.

Municipal Engineer Emerson Lachica in his report said bulk of the projects includes the concreting of roads, construction of day care centers, barangay halls and civic centers, installation of street lights and rehabilitation of drainage.

Ongoing projects are the installation of 18 units of street lighting facilities along Concepcion Street from Pastrana Street to Crossing Buswang, concreting of 158.24 meters of F. Quimpo Street Extension and rehabilitation of a portion of Acevedo Street drainage. 

Also for implementation by the administration of Mayor William Lachica are projects with a total appropriation of P5.804 million taken from the 20 percent development fund for year 2015 and Bottom-Up Budgeting (BUB) last year.

These include the construction of P1.444 million day care center in Kalibo Magsaysay Park funded from BUB-Department of Social Welfare and Development, concreting and improvement of a portion of Desposorio Maagma, Sr. Street and Rizal Street for P1.733 million and installation of street lighting facilities in Barangay Poblacion for P433,000.

Other projects are rehabilitation of drainage and canal system in XIX Martyrs Street from corner Martelino Street to portion of C. Laserna Street amounting to P1.751 million. 

Bidding process is presently ongoing for two units of traffic lights, construction of municipal disaster evacuation center Phase VI and Phase VII in Kalibo Magsaysay Park worth P4.775 million and concreting of Veterans Avenue from the corner of Archbishop Reyes Street to XIX Martyrs Street worth P740,000. 

These are funded from the 20 percent development fund and the Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (MDRRMC) for year 2015.

Also included for bidding under Recovery Assistance on Yolanda (RAY-II) of Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) are for the rehabilitation and construction of civic centers, day care centers and barangay halls in Andagao, Bakhaw Norte, Bakhaw Sur, Briones, Caano, Estancia, Linabuan Norte, Mabilo, Mobo, Nalook, New Buswang, Pook and Tigayon amounting to P3.150 million and the rehabilitation and improvement of Kalibo Public Market vegetable section for P2.5 million.
