The Sangguniang Panlalawigan and department heads of
the provincial government of Aklan attended an all-expense leadership
development training in Cebu City from May 11 to 14.
Held at Cebu City Marriott Hotel, the
leadership training is initiated by Australian
Agency for International Development (AusAiD) through its implementing arm
Philippines Australia Human Resource and Organisation Development Facility
(PAHRODF) for the province of Aklan.
Aklan Vice Governor Gabrielle Calizo-Quimpo led the 2nd
batch of trainees from Aklan, about 30 of them, for the leadership development training of the province.
Dr. Juan Kanapi facilitated the lectures, exercises and
discussion and assisted by PAHRODF trainors.
PAHRODF
is funded by AusAID to build enhanced capacity of targeted institutions in the
Philippines particularly in human resource management and development.
The
short-term training activities aim to address specific gaps in capacities in
Philippine partner institutions.
PAHRODF, a five-year (2010-2015) program of the Department of Foreign Affairs and
Trade, was launched in 2010 to provide complementary support to the mutual development
priorities of the Australian and Philippine governments such as
improve education, promote peace and stability, enhance service delivery
of local governments, and help reduce risks from natural disasters and climate
change.
Last January, the first batch of Aklan trainees also joined
key officers from the province of Davao del Norte and Lanao del Norte in their Workshop on Developing a Monitoring and Evaluation
Framework at the Marriott Hotel in Cebu City.
