BY BOY RYAN B. ZABAL

Aklan police director Senior Superintendent Samuel Nacion confirmed the relief of Kalibo police chief on Tuesday.

Superintendent Aden Lagradante will be assigned at the Aklan Police Provincial Office in Camp Pastor Martelino in New Buswang, this town, as deputy provincial director for administration, he said.

“The head of a municipal/capital town police station has the rank of Police Chief Inspector. Lagradante’s relief was ordered by Police Regional Office upon review of police structure and organization,” Nacion said.

Police Inspector Benny Jones Mendoza will serve as officer-in-charge of Kalibo municipal police station until the police chief is selected by the mayor.

Nacion stressed five qualified nominees from a pool of eligibles for Kalibo chief of police will be submitted to Kalibo mayor William Lachica. The mayor then chooses and appoints the chief of police based on the list of eligible nominees from the Philippine National Police (PNP).

Lagradante is the former group director of Aklan Provincial Mobile Group and a member of United Nations peacekeeping force prior to his assignment as Kalibo police chief in mid-December last year.

For his part, Lagradante said, “he will follow the relief order from the Police Regional Office 6.”

“Dahil sa over rank ako sa Kalibo. Police Chief Inspector lang dapat ang hepe,” he added.
