Aklan arnis team struck gold, bronzes in Palaro

Aklan arnisadors were off to a good start in secondary boys’ arnis events at the 2014 Palarong Pambansa in Laguna State Polytechnic Activity Center in Sta. Cruz, Laguna. 

The trio of John Lloyd Salazar of Regional Science High School for Region VI, Jasper Jake Daliva and Joseph Matthew Sucro of Saint Gabriel College showed off their true form to bag the gold in team (synchronized) – single weapon.  

The team scored 66.5 points, enough to beat Cordillera Administrative Region, who scored 60 points while the Calabarzon arnis team took the bronze.

The Aklan team also finished third in team (synchronized) double weapon behind Cordillera Administrative Region and Northern Mindanao arnis teams.  

The 14-year old Salazar also added one bronze for Western Visayas in anyo individual event double weapon. Joemarson Rey Abodadi of Cordillera Administrative Region earned his first gold in anyo individual double weapon over Mark Andrew Orcena of Calabarzon and Salazar. 

Abodadi took his second gold in anyo individual single weapon. 

In other results, Crystal AJ Bartonico of Jalandoni Memorial National High School in Iloilo City won the anyo individual double weapon event. 

The 16-year old arnis champ also carried Western Visayas for two silver medals in double weapon and single weapon team events.
