Kalibo development council reorganized

To achieve participatory governance and collective decision-making in local governance, the town of Kalibo is convening its Municipal Development Council.

Mayor William Lachica has reorganized the composition of the development council by virtue of Executive Order No. 013 series of 2014 dated May 8, 2014. 

The development council is headed by Mayor Lachica as chairman and composed of members from non-government organizations, media, barangay captains, committee chairman on Appropriations of Sangguniang Bayan and the congressman or his representative.

On Monday, the council will discuss the annual investment program 2015 for the preparation of annual budget and the list of eligible barangays subprojects for funding under the Recovery Assistance on Yolanda (RAY) Fund of the Department of Interior and Local Government.

The council will also update the members of the financial assistance for the construction of farm-to-market roads projects through the Department of Agrarian Reform. 

Under Republic Act No. 7160 or  the Local Government Code, the council will formulate long-term, medium-term, and annual socioeconomic development plans and policies, formulate the medium-term and annual public investment programs, appraise and prioritize socioeconomic development programs and projects.

The council is also tasked to formulate local investment incentives to promote the inflow and direction of private investment capital; coordinate, monitor, and evaluate the implementation of development programs and projects.
