The new commanding officer of 12th Infantry Battalion Philippine Army in Banga, Aklan vowed to continue the civil military operations of his predecessor to bring the military and the civilians closer.

Lt. Col. Wilfredo Isaac assumed as 12th IB commander of Camp Jizmundo, Libas, Banga, Aklan on March 25 replacing Lt. Col. Eduardo Gubat.

Camp Jizmundo is the holding area of Philippine Army personnel covering the entire province, Antique and part of Capiz, said Isaac in the sidelines of the 58th founding anniversary of the province of Aklan on Friday.

Isaac is a member of Philippine Military Academy Class of 1992. He was assigned in 11th Infantry (Lapu-Lapu) Battalion in Guihulngan City, Negros Oriental before his deployment in Aklan.

Barely one month after his designation as 12th Infantry Battalion, Lt. Col. Isaac and his Philippine Army troopers supported the recent launching of Gawad Kalinga Bayani Challenge in the towns of  Libacao and New Washington, Aklan to help build houses for Typhoon Yolanda victims and Gobyerno sa Baryo program of the provincial government of Aklan.

These are non-combat activities engaging the Philippine Army and organizations which are people-centered, multi-sector peace and development projects.

Aklan has been declared free from the influence of communist insurgency last December 2011.  The uninterrupted peace and security in the province of Aklan for the past few years resulted to more tourism and infrastructure development projects.
