As tourists continue flocking to Boracay Island, volunteers
and rescue responders of Philippine National Red Cross (PNRC) Boracay-Malay and government law enforcement agencies will
offer assistance this Holy Week.
From April 16 (Holy Wednesday) to April 19 (Black
Saturday), four first- aid stations will be set up in Boracay’s main tourism
area – the White Beach and the Cagban jetty port during the observance of Semana
Santa.
Aside from medical assistance, free drinking water
stations will also available through Boracay Island Water Company.
The four first-aid stations manned by PNRC Boracay-Malay
personnel and volunteers will be on duty from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. in Cagban jetty port in
Barangay Manoc-Manoc, in front of Epic Boracay in D’Mall in Barangay Balabag,
near Astoria Boracay in Station 1 and beside the Station 3 outpost in Barangay
Manoc-Manoc.
Public is also reminded by PNRC Boracay-Malay to call its
hotline 199 or (036) 288-2068 or (036) 288-3066 of the Boracay Tourist Assistance Center in case of emergency.
Also for public safety, police assistance desks and centers
are placed in strategic areas to respond to emergencies and to give assistance
to travelers.
Police will also deploy more personnel to intensify their
mobile and foot patrols in areas of convergence in the resort-island, the
Boracay Tourist Assistance Center said.
