Judiciary II leads bowling cup, six teams try to bolster semifinals bid

KALIBO, Aklan - Judiciary II barged into the semifinals via a 670-531 victory over Charlie Media in the 2011 Vice Governor Gabrielle Calizo-Quimpo Aklan Media Bowling Cup last night.
Judge Lollie Ureta-Villaruel sparked the Judiciary II past the Charlie Media with 175 to lead the nine-team single-round robin elimination at Q-Zone Bowling Center.
Ramon Manuel Felipe Mayor added 131, Danilo Yap had 126, Alvin Mindanao contributed 121 and Greg Tanieza chipped in 117 for tournament-leading Judiciary II.
Although Charlie Media suffered its third loss in eight games, the second-placed team gained at least a tie for the semifinals berth with a 5-3 card.
Marlon Salvador of Kalibo Cable Television Network scored 126, Hagbong dela Cruz of The Aklan Reporter had 119, Ronnel Irodestan of DyYM CBIS Hot FM Katribu (117), Arnel Relampago of Love Radio Kalibo tallied 91 and Lucy Villaruel of IBC DyRG struggled with 78.
Meanwhile, Alpha Media routed Aklan Photographic Society, 545-496 and the Bravo Media, 542-507 to stay in contention for the semifinals berth. Aklan Sangguniang Panlalawigan also outclassed the Integrated Bar of the Philippines-Aklan, 591-548.
Aklan SP’s Rey dela Pena powered his team to victory with 154, Odon Bandiola had 143, SP Raymar Rebaldo struck 115, Ely dela Pena (93) and Jonna Irodestan (86). Shermaine Atienza led the IBP-Aklan with 131, Brian Calizo turned in 112, Niflem Meren had 110, Flosemer Chris Gonzales (93) and Giovanni Paul Gomez (103).
In today’s penultimate matches, Aklan Police Provincial Office tries to bolster its semifinals bid when it battles Bravo Media, Judiciary I meets Aklan Sangguniang Panlalawigan, Aklan Photographic Society takes on Judiciary II and Alpha Media tackles IBP-Aklan.
Aklan PNP, IBP-Aklan and Judiciary I share third to fifth spot with identical 4-3 records and they are still in the thick of the fight for the last three spots in the semifinals along with Alpha Media and Bravo Media.
In case of tie in the total number of won games, the total pinfalls will determine the rankings of top four teams to the semifinals.
