Judiciary II, Charlie Media near semifinals, Aklan PNP, IBP Aklan, Judiciary I and Bravo Media in contention

KALIBO, Aklan – Front-running Judiciary II and Charlie Media secured at least a tie for one of the automatic semifinal seats after overwhelming their separate foes in the 2011 Vice Governor Gabrielle Calizo-Quimpo Aklan Media Bowling Cup last night.

In the battle of court employees, Judiciary II dominated Judiciary I, 580-550, to safely make the semifinal phase of the bowling cup. Judiciary II posted its fifth win in six games to seize the solo lead in the 4th edition of the bowling tournament.


Greg Tanieza bannered the Judiciary II with 123 pinfalls, Judge Bienvenido Barrios, Jr. had 81, Danilo Yap rolled 130, Judge Lollie Ureta-Villaruel added 120 and Ramon Manuel Felipe Mayor contributed 125 pinfalls.


Cris Gubatina led the Judiciary I with 132 pinfalls, George Wendell Villanueva scored 109, Roderick Robillo had 106, Nicoaron Roldan (105) and Marissa Peralta (98).


Aklan Photographic Society (APS) pulled off a scary 548-542 win over highly-favored Aklan Sangguniang Panlalawigan behind the solid game of Joel Juliano.


Juliano rolled 156 pinfalls and Paul John Mirto had 116 to help the APS notched its first win in six outings. Ramel Buncalan added 108, Mark Leslie Laguna had 96 and Shiela Tamado carded 71 pinfalls.


Rey dela Pena torched the lanes for Aklan SP with 154 pinfalls, Odon Bandiola had 111, SP member Raymar Rebaldo tallied 105, Jonna Irodestan (77) and Ely Alvarez (95).


Charlie Media also outplayed Bravo Media, 600-478 for its fifth straight victories. Ronnel Irodistan of DyYM CBIS Hot FM Katribu led the rally of Charlie Media with 145 pinfalls, Marlon Salvador of Kalibo Cable Television Network had 135, Arnel Relampago of Love Radio Kalibo (126), Hagbong dela Cruz of The Aklan Reporter (115) and Lucy Villaruel of IBC DyRG Budyong (79).


Arnel Arrieta, Jr. of Radyo Boracay led the Bravo Media with 129 pinfalls.


Other results: Integrated Bar of the Philippines (IBP) outlasted Aklan Photographic Society, 473-455 and Judiciary I whipped Alpha Media, 673-528.

With the win, Charlie Media tote a 5-2 win-loss record behind tournament-leading Judiciary II and just ahead of Aklan Police Provincial Office, which had a 4-3 slate, Integrated Bar of the Philippines (4-2), Judiciary I (4-3) and Bravo Media (3-3).
