KALIBO, Aklan – Judiciary II, Integrated Bar of the Philippines-Aklan, Charlie Media and Aklan Police Provincial Office make the semis cast of the 4th Vice Governor Gabrielle Calizo-Quimpo Aklan Media Bowling Cup on Friday night.
IBP-Aklan booked the second semifinals slot after beating Alpha Media, 595-379. The win was the fifth for the lawyers in eight games and the first semifinals appearance since joining the bowling tournament two years ago.
Charlie Media bagged the No. 3 spot after finishing the single-round robin elimination with 5-3 record on an eight-game series of 4,504 pinfalls. Aklan Police Provincial Office secured the No. 4 with a close victory over Bravo Media, 511-491.
Today, top seed Judiciary II will try to bag the first finals seat as it faces the 2010 first runner-up Aklan PNP in the cross-over semifinals at 4 p.m. at Q-Zone Bowling Center. Judiciary II earlier dominated the Aklan PNP, 638-588 in the nine-team elimination round.
After finishing in the cellar last year, the vastly-improved Integrated Bar of the Philippines-Aklan battles the 2010 third runner-up Charlie Media in the other semifinal game. Charlie Media beat the IBP-Aklan, 578-494 in the elimination round.
For fifth place, Aklan Sangguniang Panlalawigan (4-4) will take on Judiciary I (4-4). Aklan SP hammered out a convincing 573-536 victory against Judiciary I to claim the No. 6 spot.
Meanwhile, three teams were eliminated – Alpha Media (3-5), Bravo Media (3-5) and Aklan Photographic Society.
