Judiciary II claims bowling cup title, IBP-Aklan and Charlie Media capture runner-up honors

KALIBO, Aklan – Judiciary II ruled the prestigious 4th Vice Governor Gabrielle V. Calizo-Quimpo Aklan Media Bowling Cup, by beating the Integrated Bar of the Philippines-Aklan during the finals on Saturday night.


Judiciary II rolled game of 630 to fly past IBP-Aklan’s 547 to take a dominating 83-pin lead in the finals. Ramon Manuel Felipe Mayor chalked up 151, Danilo Yap had 127, Judge Lollie Ureta-Villaruel totalled 124, Greg Tanieza finished with 118 and Alvin Mindanao had 110.


Flosemer Chris Gonzales led the improved IBP-Aklan with 147, Giovanni Paul Gomez had 115, Niflem Meren checked in 104, Brian Calizo posted 99 and Shermaine Atienza settled for 82.



IBP-Aklan earlier subdued No.3 ranked Charlie Media by a mere 13 pins in the semifinals, 591-578, to earn a title shot at Judiciary II, the top elimination finisher with 7-1 record.


In the other semis, Judiciary II took care of Aklan Police Provincial Office, 672-663, for the right to bowl for the title against IBP-Aklan.


Meanwhile, Charlie Media triumphed over Aklan Police Provincial Office to claim the second runner-up title, 666-600.


Ronnel Irodestan of DyYM CBIS Hot FM Katribu tallied 170, Marlon Salvador of Kalibo Cable Television Network scored 139, Hagbong dela Cruz of The Aklan Reporter had 134, Lucy Villaruel of IBC DyRG Budyong torched the lanes with 116 and Arnel Relampago of Love Radio chipped in 107 en route to their second straight third-place finish.



SPO4 Benny Jones Mendoza felled 166 pins, SPO2 Luzbella Isada added 142, PO3 Darius Padilla contributed 104, PO3 James Bantique fired 100 and PO3 Johnny Alejaga bowled 88 pins.


In the battle for fifth place, Aklan Sangguniang Panlalawigan defeated Judiciary I.


Special awards were given to Judiciary II for highest team score (705), Judge Lollie Ureta-Villaruel (175) and Ramon Manuel Felipe Mayor (178), both from Judiciary II, for highest individual scores.


The annual bowling cup at Q-Zone Bowling Center held from April 9 to 16 drew 72 players from nine teams including Alpha Media, Bravo Media and newcomer Aklan Photographic Society (APS).
