Aklan Pina and Fiber Festival opens on April 25

KALIBO, Aklan – The unique Aklan products made from the world-renowned pina and fiber will highlight the celebration of the 55th Aklan anniversary from April 25 to 30.

The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) partnered with local producers – Hugod Aklanon Producers Association, Inc. and Aklan Pina Man-tra Association, Inc. to showcase the country’s best pina and fiber products which will be held at The Trade Hall of the provincial capitol grounds.

The flourishing fiber and pina festival is also supported by the provincial government of Aklan, Congressional District Office, Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry-Aklan Chapter and the Fiber Industry Development Authority.

Now on its 12th year, local exhibitors will also display in their booths the loom-woven pina-seda cloths, wooden raffia, bamboo and abaca products, processed food, household and novelty items in the weeklong fiber festival.

Other major activities of the 55th Aklan anniversary are the Tsibugan sa Kapitolyo (foodfest), pagtililipon (cultural presentation of Aklan and Capiz), civic and military parade, inter-department sportsfest, dog show, thanksgiving mass, inter-municipal basketball tournament, awarding of outstanding Aklanons and the garden and agro-industrial trade fair.
