KALIBO, Aklan – Bravo Media and Charlie Media notched two straight victories to remain in the hunt for the coveted 2011 Vice Governor Gabrielle Calizo-Quimpo Aklan Media Bowling Cup at the Q-Zone Bowling Center last night.
Bravo Media bounced back from opening day loss to upset Judiciary II, 594-546, behind the solid efforts of Arnel Arrieta, Jr. of Radyo Boracay with 134, Brechyl Rapio (132) and Doddie Balairos of RGMA DyRU Super Radyo (128).
Rodelio Lomibao of Bay Radio Kalibo had 109 and Sharon Moises of DyYM CBIS Katribu Radio posted 91 for Bravo Media.
Ramon Manuel Felipe Mayor led the Judiciary II with a game-high 155. Judge Lollie Ureta-Villaruel rolled 130, Alvin Mindanao had 116, Greg Tanieza scored 103 and Ana May Conti struggled with 42.
Alpha Media also won their first outing the other night but dropped their second game against fancied Charlie Media, 543-511.
Hagbong dela Cruz of Aklan Reporter torched the lanes for Charlie Media with 142, Arnel Relampago of Love Radio Kalibo had 133, Ronnel Irodistan of DyYM CBIS Hot FM Katribu struck 100, Lucy Villaruel of IBC DyRG Budyong had 107 and Alfredo Pintor of RGMA DyRU Super Radyo tallied 61.
Southpaw Jethro Laserna of Aklan Press Club rolled 127 pins followed by Ron Bautista of DyYM CBIS Hot FM Katribu with 117, Louie Aguirre of Aklan Cable Television Company (98), Ramil Tirazona of RMN DyKR Kalibo (97) and Jhinkie Jane Balairos of Love Radio (72). Meanwhile, first-day leader Aklan Police Provincial Office (APPO) absorbed its first loss in the single-round robin elimination.
Judiciary II leaned on the game-high performance of Ramon Manuel Felipe Mayor as it turned back APPO, 638-588. Mayor unleashed 156, Judge Lollie Ureta-Villaruel had 132, Judge Bienvenido Barrios, Jr. contributed 125, Greg Tanieza tallied 114 and Alvin Mindanao scored 111.
SPO3 Benny Jones Mendoza and PO3 James Bantique had an identical 143, PO3 Johnny Alejaga had 128, SPO2 Luzbella Isada got 88. Frontrunning Integrated Bar of the Philippines (IBP)-Aklan also upset highly-favored Judiciary I in a thrilling 647-619 victory.
Giovanni Paul Gomez fired a game-best 158 to help send the IBP Aklan to its second straight win. Brian Calizo contributed 139 pins, Niflem Meren tallied 131, Flosemer Chris Gonzales chipped in 119 and Shermaine Atienza had 98 pins.
Roderick Robillo led the Judiciary I (1-1) with 154 followed by Cris Gubatina (144) Nicoaron Roldan (136), Efren Galvan (100) and Marissa Peralta (85).
Other results: Bravo Media beat winless Aklan Sangguniang Panlalawigan, 562-510 and Charlie Media dominated Aklan Photographic Society, 580-484.
