DAR Aklan launches P42 million JICA-funded projects

KALIBO, Aklan – The Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR) Aklan and the local government unit of Malay will launch P42.81 million worth of agrarian reform infrastructure projects on Tuesday.
DAR Aklan Information Officer Grace Quimpo said the foreign assisted multi-million funding for farm to market roads, bridge, irrigation and post harvest facilities is intended for the Malaya Agrarian Reform Community (MARC).
Chief Representative Norio Matsuda of the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), Henry Zapata of DAR Central Project Management Office, Agrarian Reform Infrastructure Support Program (ARISP) consultants’ team leader Yukihiro Kawahara are expected to grace the launching along with DAR regional director Engr. Eliasem Castillo and Aklan provincial agrarian reform office Atty. Daniel Martelino.
Taking note from the successful implementation infrastructure support projects channeled through the DAR-ARISP III, the program would have a far-reaching impact on the economic growth and development of target communities.
Another agrarian reform community in Pacto de Sangre in New Washington, Aklan, the recipient of P49.57 million project under the ARISP III and being managed by DAR Aklan, will also undergo site validation.
Quimpo said Mayor Edgar Peralta will present the municipal and ARC profiles and indicative plans for the JICA, DAR and ARISP representatives during the field validation.
