The 600-strong APPO was cited for its over-all performance and accomplishments last year, among others, the implementation of “Mamang Pulis/Aleng Pulis Serbisyong Tama and Malinis,” the launching of the Model Police Station (MPS) projects in Kalibo and Boracay police stations and the “Oplan Bayanihan” project after the devastation of typhoon ‘Frank’.
Guinto also initiated reforms and improved the capabilities of the PNP personnel in Aklan through basic and advance course trainings from the United States Department of Justice International Criminal Investigative Training Assistance Program (ICITAP) and New Zealand government.
Last year, former PNP chief Avelino Razon lauded the APPO for its dedicated and pro-active approach to law enforcement.
“With the APPO as one of our MPS pilot sites and with the support of our partners and friends in local government units, I can see this police office becoming one of the best, if not the best, in Region 6 very soon,” Razon stressed.
This year’s celebration theme is "Pambansang Pulisya: Kaagapay ng Mamamayan sa Kapayapaan at Kaunlaran," highlighted by the giving of awards and citations to deserving police units and personnel.
