Aklan Press Club elects new officers

KALIBO, Aklan – The Aklan Press Club Inc (APC) has elected new leadership to its 2007 board of directors and welcomed veteran journalist Recto Vidal, editor of The People’s Chronicle, as its new president.
Joining the APC board as new officers are Boy Ryan Zabal, executive vice president (Panay News); Gary Vargas, vice president for TV (Kalibo Cable Television Network); Allen Alcedo, vice president for broadcast (DYMK CBIS 98.5 Hot FM); Jun Ariolo Aguirre, vice president for print (Hala Birada newsweekly), Cecille de Lemos, secretary, Paquito Saratiosa, treasurer (RMN DYKR Kalibo) and Edwin Pelayo of Panay News as auditor.
Elected to the board are Arnel Relampago (Kalibo Cable Television Network), Rolly Herrera (The Binirayan Journal), Jun Prado (Panay News), Ronel Irodistan (DYMK CBIS 98.5 Hot FM) , Jethro Laserna (The Binirayan Journal), George Cawaling (I Travel Magazine) and Odon Bandiola.
“We have a very high-level and talented group of industry professionals joining APC’s executive leadership, and I look forward to working with them to achieve the goals we have set for APC,” said Johnny Dayang, president of Publishers Association of the Philippines Inc (PAPI).
The election was witnessed by former APC presidents – Dayang, Aklan Vice Gov. Ronquillo Tolentino, current Secretary to the Sangguniang Panlalawigan Odon Bandiola and Dr. Ambrosio Villorente Sr, publisher/editor of Madyaas Pen.
Dayang, APC chairman emeritus, said the well-meaning Aklan media practitioners should strengthen its membership and materialize the construction of the Aklan Media Center building in a 250 sq.m. lot donated by the provincial government on August 11, 2004.
Villorente heads the Building Construction committee, lawyer-journalist Ronilo Inventado is the Legal Consultant of APC while Tolentino is the chairperson of the Scholarships and Travel committee.
The newly elected officers all vowed to do their best in solidifying APC and protect the interest of its members.
