Cops: Malinao woman killed by blunt-force trauma to the head

The woman found dead and naked in Malinao, Aklan was beaten to death by unidentified assailant, the postmortem examination showed.

 

Police medico-legal officer Chief Inspector Joe Martin Fuentes said 41-year old Eva Collantes Adan sustained severe injuries caused by a blunt-force trauma to the head. 

“The wounding instrument, a long tube-like hard object, resulted to fractures of the skull and injuries to the brain,” Fuentes said after the autopsy conducted on the victim’s body on December 30.  

Adan also sustained abrasions on her right eye and her lower extremities and buttocks, indicating she was dragged by the suspect or suspects. 

No defensive wounds were also found in the body of the victim.  

 

Adan, a native of Bicol and staying at Barangay Dangcalan with her live-in partner, was reported missing by family members over the weekend. She was last seen leaving her home to work in Barangay Poblacion on Friday morning. 

Adan was found without any clothes in a grassy area of Sitio Capisi, Dangcalan the day after by barangay tanods, raising the  probability of a sexually motivated crime.

But the postmortem examination said otherwise.   

“Posibleng sa secondary crime scene nakita ang biktima dahil may mga abrasions sa kanyang lower extremities at buttocks, There is also no proof or evidence she was raped,” Fuentes added.

 

At the crime scene, police recovered the bag along with the mobile phone belonging to Adan. As of this writing, they are also searching for the weapon used in the attack and have no indications as to what the motive or motives in killing Adan.   

No arrests have been made, but, persons of interest critical in ongoing investigations were tagged by Malinao municipal police station.

Police also appealed for the public who might have seen the grisly crime to come forward with information or to contact the nearest police station.
