Tamboe Sadsad salvo draws 50 Ati-Atihan tribes, groups

What do these unusual names -  Vindeta, Gangat, Iwa-Iwa, Piktaw-Piktaw, Remedyo have in common?

These rare names are Ati-Atihan tribes and groups who will be joining the traditional street dancing and the beating of rhythmic drums called Tamboe Sadsad salvo on October 26 starting at 2 p.m.

Tamboe Sadsad is the ‘October version’ of the popular Ati-Atihan festival in Kalibo, Aklan held every January in honor of Senor Santo Niño de Kalibo.

Apo ni Inday, D’Emagine, Tribu Datu Puti, Road Side, Tribu Anono-o, Bae-ot Bae-ot, Kinantuing, Tribu Bukid Tigayon, Vikings, Malipayong Ati, Aeang-Aeang, Tribu Alibangbang, Royal Scorpio and Lezo Tribe are also joining the Tamboe Sadsad.

Other tribes and groups are Anino, D’Gonz, Ants-Paea, 509, SNV, D’Cousins, D’Iraders, Toronian Hotshot, Etcetera, Blue Birds, 3 J’s Marino, Eleven ’05, Akatsi, The Godfather, Remember D’Family, Skylarks, Team Balong, Atras Abante, Longstone Trail, Janlef-A-Town, Village People, Adamas Ace, Bantod Smile, Kamicousinz, Hilltop Ibajay, Lagalag 27, Merisi, Los Companeros, The Andagao City, Delex 300 and Brotherhood.

During the Tamboe Sadsad opening salvo program, GMA TV Network, Philippine Airlines and festival organizer Kalibo Sto. Niño Ati-Atihan Foundation, Inc. (Kasafi) will be signing a Memorandum of Agreement for the festival. Sixteen finalists of Mutya it Kalibo Ati-Atihan will also make their first public appearance together at Kalibo Pastrana Park.  

The festivities on October 26 also include ‘Hysteria 2.0’ in Kalibo Magsaysay Park for night party goers. Promising DJs – Bettina Lopez, Eric Gella, Jeb Jingco, Vega, Pep Mayor, MC Phatjorj, and local bands will take centerstage at 6 p.m.

Ati-Atihan next year will be celebrated from January 11 to January 20 where tourists, balikbayans, devotees and residents gather in the capital town of Kalibo for the Feast of Senor Sto. Niño.
