The Philippine Coast Guard
(PCG) safely rescued 142 passengers off the waters of Caticlan in Malay, Aklan
on October 22.

MV Super Shuttle Ferry 18 set
sail from Roxas port in Roxas, Oriental
Mindoro, but experienced engine trouble while en route to Caticlan at around 3
a.m. the PCG said.
The ferry was carrying 135
adults, four children and three infants. All were accounted and successfully
rescued by Coast Guard Station (CGS) Aklan, Coast Guard Sub-Station Boracay and
Special Operations Force.
BRP Cape EngaƱo (MRRV
4411) and its fast patrol boat from France, BRP Boracay (FPB 2401) also responded
to the call to help the distressed passenger-vessel.
The boat was later towed by
rescue teams to Caticlan jetty port.
