Drug buy-bust nets Tokhang surrenderee

BY BOY RYAN B. ZABAL

A buy-bust operation netted a former drug surrenderee in New Washington, Aklan on September 14.

Arrested for selling illegal drugs was identified as 41-year old Darwin Relloso alias Tiwak, resident of Barangay Candelaria in New Washington.

He allegedly caught in the act of selling a sachet of suspected shabu to a poseur buyer for P1,500 in the adjacent barangay of Mataphao at around 7:15 a.m. while he was riding his bicycle.

Operatives of New Washington municipal police station and Aklan Provincial Drug Enforcement Unit (PDEU) conducted the sting operation. The suspect also yielded two sachets of shabu and P2,360 in cash during the body search.

New Washington police chief Senior Police Inspector Benny Jones Mendoza said the suspect resisted the arrest of the operatives.

“Drug surrenderee siya sa ating Oplan Tokhang. Nakakonek ang transactions niya sa dating Banga buy-bust operation,” he said.

“Ilang beses kaming nag-attempt at kanina na buy bust natin siya. Prior sa Oplan Tokhang, involved na siya sa illegal drugs.”

Mendoza said the suspect’s house in Candelaria is also being used by his group in illegal drug activities.

“Ang suspek ay nag-ooperate sa bayan ng Banga at New Washington. Gumagamit din siya ng motorsiklo at trisikel sa kanyang operasyon sa druga. Ayon sa aming monitoring, galing ang mga ito sa Banga sa kakilala niya,” he added.

Relloso will be charged for violations of Section 5 (selling of illegal drugs) and Section 11 (illegal possession) of Article II of Republic Act No. 9165 otherwise known as Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.

He was detained at New Washington lock-up cell after the drug operation.

Mendoza also reminded the drug surrenderees to stop engaging in illegal drugs especially those undergoing community-based rehabilitation program.
