Chief Inspector Ricky Bontogon, team leader
of Provincial Drug Enforcement Unit (PDEU) said John Alex Nabor alias John-John,
resident of Laguinbanua West in Numancia, Aklan sold a sachet of suspected
shabu to a poseur buyer in exchange for P1,100 at around 9:30 a.m.
During the body search, the 36-year old Nabor yielded five sachets of suspected shabu in the buy-bust in Laguinbanua East.
The suspect has been under surveillance for a month. Based on their investigation, Nabor got his supply of illegal drugs from Iloilo, according to Bontogon.
"Naka-test buy tayo kay Nabor. Malakihan ang transactions niya ayon sa ating confidential agent," the police officer said.
After being caught, Nabor had denied selling shabu but admitted using illegal drugs. The suspect said he voluntarily surrendered in Oplan Tokhang to authorities last year.
Bontogon said the suspect sold illegal drugs in the capital town of Kalibo and the western towns in Aklan aside from the town of Numancia.
“Habang nasa talipapa ako para bumili ng ulam sa aming tatlong panday sa hatchery at piggery, may mga pulis na lumapit at nag-handcuffed sa akin. Hindi ako na-buy bust at hindi taga-supply ng druga,” Nabor said in local dialect.
Nabor is facing charges for violations of Section 5 (selling) and Section 11 (possession) of Article II of Republic Act No. 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
The joint operation was conducted by Aklan PDEU, Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency 6 (PDEA) in coordination with Numancia municipal police station.
Meanwhile, Bontogon also appealed to suspected drug personalities to stop their illegal drug activities.
