The
Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) has enjoined the support of the public to exercise
vigilant and be cautious in case of fire incidents.

BFP
is observing its Fire Prevention Month by virtue of Presidential
Proclamation No. 115-A (1973) with the theme "Buhay at
Ari-arian ay Pahalagahan, Ibayong Pag-iingat sa Sunog ay sa Sariling Pamamahay
Simulan.”
Personnel of fire
stations in Aklan, volunteers and stakeholders kicked off its activities on
March 1 with motorcades and blowing of horns to spread awareness of the month-long fire
prevention program in the communities.
BFP-Kalibo
Fire Inspector Donnie Torre said the agency will also continue to conduct activities
such as distribution fire safety tips flyers in fire prone areas, inspection of
boarding houses and residential establishments, fire safety lectures and drills.
So
far, BFP-Kalibo recorded no structural fire incidents from January to February
this year. Torre added, “at present, BFP-Kalibo has 24 personnel and two serviceable
fire trucks.”
Meanwhile,
a fire broke out in Sitio Kamanggahan in Tambak, New Washington on Wednesday.
BFP-New
Washington said the house made of mixed and concrete materials was gutted by
fire at around 8:40 a.m. Damaged
to properties is initially pegged at P350,000. No injuries or death were
reported in the fire.
