A
barangay captain in New Washington, Aklan was arrested on July 29 by virtue of
a warrant of arrest for illegal drug trade.
Judge
Marietta Homena of the Regional Trial Court Branch 1 in Kalibo, Aklan ordered
the immediate arrest of Isidro Mayor Buñe, resident of Purok 1, Pinamuk-an, New
Washington, Aklan.

No
bail bond was recommended for his temporary liberty.
The
42-year old Buñe was arrested in his house at about 5:30 p.m. Wednesday by
operatives of Aklan Provincial Anti-Illegal Special Operations Task Group (PAIDSOTG)
led by Senior Inspector Bernard Ufano, Provincial Intelligence Branch,
Provincial Public Safety Company (PPSC) and the New Washington municipal police
station.
Police
said they arrested Buñe after three police officers served the warrant of
arrest in the former’s residence. The suspect did not resist the arrest.
“Kaibahan
ku daywa ku nga masaligan nga tawu. Sa may guwa dapit imaw it baeay tag
maabutan namun si Buñe mga 5:30 p.m. (Kasama ko ang dalawang pulis sa pag-aresto. Naabutan namin si Buñe sa labas ng kanyang bahay mga 5:30 p.m.),” Ufano said.
Buñe
was arrested earlier by PAIDSOTG on May 13, 2014 in a drug raid at his house in
the island-barangay of Pinamuk-an, which could be reached through a 10-minute
boat travel from New Washington port in Poblacion.
Ten
small plastic sachets of methamphetamine hydrochloride or shabu, Samsung
cellphone, wallet and P1,000 cash money were seized by operatives in a search
operation by virtue of a search warrant number EJ-007-14 dated May 6, 2014.
Buñe,
however, was released after he posted the bail bond of P200,000 for possession
of illegal drugs under Section 11 of RA 9165 last year.
After
Buñe’s release, investigators of PAIDSOTG filed a criminal case in the court
for Section 5 or for illegal pushing of drugs against him.
At
around 8 p.m. Wednesday, Buñe was brought to New Washington police station
where he was temporarily detained.
He
was turned over to court on Thursday morning and subsequently detained at the
Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP) in Nalook, Kalibo, Aklan.
