DepEd-Aklan honors 10 outstanding teachers

The Department of Education (DepEd)-Division of Aklan has recently recognized the winners of 2015 Search for Aklan’s Ten Outstanding Mentors (ATOM).

ATOM which began in 2014 is being implemented by DepEd in partnership with Razon Tumbocon-Haresco Foundation headed by Aklan Rep. Teodorico Haresco, Jr. in recognition of the hard work of Aklan’s school teachers for their exemplary and dedicated service and leadership in teaching profession. 

DepEd Aklan has 19 school districts in 17 municipalities. This year, the 10 all-female awardees were elementary and secondary teachers from seven school districts. 

Three awardees came from the Districts of Kalibo I and II, Makato and Altavas had two each and Ibajay West, Malinao and New Washington with one each.

The ATOM awardees were Master Teacher II Gemma Nicolas of Kalibo Pilot Elementary School (District of Kalibo I), Master Teacher I Gloria Remaneses of Linabuan National High School (District of Kalibo II), Master Teacher I Nelda Tumbokon of Kalibo Elementary School (District of Kalibo II), Teacher III Analyn Perez of Dina-ut Elementary School (District of Altavas) and Master Teacher I Kanalee Castuciano of Altavas Elementary School (District of Altavas).

Other awardees were Master Teacher II Lucilyn Villanueva of Sta. Cruz Elementary School (District of Ibajay West), Master Teacher II Buenafe Casugbu of New Washington Elementary School (District of New Washington), Teacher III Adelia Manares of Anselmo B. Legaspi National High School (District of Makato), Master Teacher II Susan Bertuldo of Makato Integrated School (District of Makato) and Master Teacher I Rita Hilda Feliciano of Malinao School for Philippine Craftsmen (District of Malinao).

All winners received plaques of recognition and P10,000 cash from Haresco. 

Aklan Governor Florencio Miraflores, Haresco and Aklan Schools Division Superintendent Dr. Jesse Gomez led the conferring of awards during the awarding ceremonies held at Gov. Augusto B. Legaspi Sports and Cultural Center in Kalibo, Aklan on April 17.

It was attended by hundreds of teachers from the different schools in Aklan. Before the ceremony, the first 100  teachers/officials to arrive in the event venue also received P500 each from Haresco.

  1. The congressman should choose his outfit or attire to suit the occasion. Evidently this event is a formal event. The awardees, the superintendent, the governor and others are dressed accordingly. The casual attire of the congressman sticks out like a sore thumb. His staff should alert him on what to don on occasions.
