Aklan cops deploy for APEC security in Bacolod

Policemen from Aklan Police Provincial Office (APPO) were deployed in Bacolod City to ensure the safety and security of delegates of Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) ministerial meeting next week.

Acting police provincial director Senior Superintendent Iver Apellido said 78 cops from APPO and the municipal police stations will augment the security force of Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO) and the Police Regional Office-6.

APEC delegates from 21 member countries are expected to attend the Disaster Risk Finance-APEC Roadmap for Resilient Economies at the SMX Convention Center Bacolod on April 29 and 30. 

Apellido said eight patrol cars from Aklan are also mobilized for the APEC meeting in Bacolod City to secure around 700 foreign and national delegates.

The nine-day deployment of Aklan policemen to Bacolod City started on April 23, he added. All police officers will be put on duty to guard Bacolod City, venue and billeting areas for delegates.

This May, Boracay Island will be hosting also two ministerial meetings for APEC delegates. Senior officials will meet on May 10-21 and trade ministers will attend the meeting from May 23 to 24. 

Iloilo City will also host the Ministerial Meeting for Small and Medium Enterprises on September 21 to 25, and Ministerial Meeting for Food Security and Blue Economy on September 28 to October 6.

APEC Summit on 2015 will be participated by 21 Pacific-Rim leaders from Hong Kong, Vietnam, Thailand, Mexico, China, Canada, Russia, Brunei Darrusalam, Indonesia, Singapore, Japan, Chinese Taipei, South Korea, Australia, Chile, New Zealand, United States, Malaysia, Peru, Papua New Guinea, and host Philippines.
