A suspected drug pusher was arrested in a buy-bust operation Tuesday afternoon in Kalibo, Aklan, the Aklan Provincial Anti-Illegal Drugs Special Operations Task Group (PAIDSOTG) said.

PAIDSOTG investigator Senior Police Officer 1 Rezie Bulanon said the buy-bust operation was conducted at around 4:40 p.m. in Barangay Tigayon.

Operatives arrested the suspect after a police asset handed to him P1,500 marked money  for two sachets of suspected methamphetamine hydrochloride or shabu.

Police also recovered from Jelson Lopez, 32, native of Silay City, Negros Occidental and presently staying at Barangay Poblacion in Banga, Aklan, one big sachet of shabu with a street value of P10,000.

“Nakagamit imaw it shabu bago ang buy bust operation. The suspect was taken into custody when he resisted arrest. He tried also to swallow the big sachet of shabu,” Bulanon said.

The confiscated drugs will be forwarded to Aklan Provincial Crime Laboratory for examination. Lopez will also undergo drug test, the police added.

Bulanon said the police asset tipped PAIDSOTG operatives led by Inspector Wilfredo Hofilena that the drug suspect will be having a transaction with him near Crossing Banga-New Washington area at around 2:30 p.m.

However, Lopez agreed to meet the police asset near a tennis court along Osmena Avenue in Barangay Estancia. While waiting for the entrapment operation, the police asset told PAIDSOTG that the suspect decided to transact with him in Barangay Tigayon in a vulcanizing shop.

“Naga-pabulkit ang suspect when he was nabbed by operatives after the buy-bust operation,” Bulanon said.

Lopez will be charged for violations of Section 5 and 11, Article II of Republic Act No. 9165 and for resistance and disobedience against persons of authority under the Revised Penal Code.
