BY BOY RYAN B. ZABAL

The no-let up campaign against illegal drugs of the Philippine National Police (PNP) resulted to the arrest of three drug suspects in separate buy-bust operations in New Washington, Aklan and Boracay Island.

Senior Inspector Al Lloren Bigay, chief of police of New Washington, identified the suspect as 33-year old Jesse Perucho, married, jobless and a resident of Barangay Polo, this town.

Joint elements of Aklan Provincial Anti-Illegal Drugs Special Operations Task Group (PAIDSOTG) and the New Washington police station conducted the buy-bust operation at around 3 p.m. along the provincial highway in Sitio Dumlog in Barangay Tambac on Monday.

“Nasa watchlist ang suspect. Nag-coordinate tayo sa Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency at sa mga kapulisan itong operation mula pa kaninang umaga. Ang suspect ay galing sa sabungan at maaaring may iba pa siyang ka-transactions doon,” Bigay said.

The suspect yielded eight sachets of suspected shabu, a 38-revolver with five live ammunitions and marked money amounting to P1,000.

Bigay said, “ngayon lang nagkataon na nakapag-transactions sa kanya ang poseur buyer natin from PAIDSOTG. May ibang pa tayong mga subjects na tatargetin natin pag makakuha tayo ng ibang impormasyon.”

Perucho is facing charges for violations of Section 5 and Section 11 of Article II of Republic Act No. 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.

In Boracay, two drug suspects were also collared by operatives of PAIDSOTG, Aklan Police Provincial Office and the Boracay Tourist Assistance Center (BTAC) in a boarding house in Sitio Bulabog in Barangay Balabag on Sunday.

Seized from the suspects were 13 plastic sachets of shabu, mobile phone and P1,000 which was used as buy-bust money.
