Aklan PNP cites six-month accomplishments

The Aklan Police Provincial Office (APPO) war on illegal drugs and aggressive police operations that led to the arrest of 67 persons were among the outstanding accomplishments during the first six months of 2014.

Senior Superintendent Samuel Nacion, acting Aklan police provincial director, cited the efforts and significant operational accomplishments of the police against criminal offenders during the Talakayan sa Isyung Pulis at Camp Pastor Martelino.

A total of 46 anti-drug operations across the province of Aklan, including Boracay Island resulted to the confiscation of P566,400 worth of shabu weighing  48 grams and 1,166.88 grams of marijuana.

The Philippine National Police (PNP) also filed 75 cases in court against the suspects for violations of Sections 5 and 11 of Article II, Republic Act No. 9165 otherwise known as the Comprehensive Drugs Act of 2002.

In its campaign against timber poaching, the APPO in coordination with the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) arrested six persons and confiscated illegally sawn lumbers of assorted sizes with a total volume of 35,868 board feet.

Seventy-six most wanted persons were also apprehended while 17 persons were arrested for the 43 cases of robbery and theft investigated from January to June. 

Nine cases of robbery and theft were also filed in court, the accomplishment report showed. 

APPO also conducted seaborne operation that resulted to the apprehension of 10 persons in two operations in the act of illegal fishing. 

Nacion said 17 persons were also arrested and 18 firearms were confiscated and recovered by the police in their campaign against loose firearms. 

Three persons were also apprehended for illegal gambling. Police confiscated from them cash bets amounting to P7,107 and gambling paraphernalia.
