BY BOY RYAN B. ZABAL

A buy-bust operation yielded three drug suspects in Boracay Island early Wednesday morning.

Police Inspector Wilfredo Hofilena, chief of Aklan Provincial Anti-Illegal Drugs Special Operations Task Group (PAIDSOTG), said the suspects were apprehended at around 4:30 a.m. along Main Road Barangay Balabag here.

The sting operation resulted to the arrests of 30-year old Vincent Aldrick Checa David of Infante, Molo, Iloilo City and his companions identified as Arvin Abaya, 20, of Carles, Iloilo and Agustin Jubilag, 21, tattoo artist from Dingle, Iloilo.

Hofilena said a poseur-buyer handed the marked P1,000 for a plastic sachet of suspected shabu from the suspects.

“Malilito ka sa operation ng tatlong suspects na ito, kaso, nalaman na namin bago pa man sila hulihin sa buy-bust,” the police official said.

Also recovered were three sachets of suspected shabu and a mobile phone containing text messages of the drug transactions.

Hofilena said, “the drug buy-bust operation was conducted by operatives of PAIDSOTG and the Boracay Tourist Assistance Center (BTAC) in front of Crafts de Boracay in Barangay Balabag.”

After the arrest, the three suspects were detained at BTAC police station.

They are facing charges for violation of Republic Act No. 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Acts of 2002 before the Aklan Provincial Prosecutor’s Office in Kalibo, Aklan.
