Two suspected drug pushers were apprehended on Monday afternoon in buy-bust and entrapment operations by the Aklan Provincial Anti-Illegal Drugs Special Operations Task Group (PAIDSOTG), Provincial Intelligence Branch Office (PIBO) and Ibajay police.

Police Inspector Wilfredo Hofilena, chief of PAIDSOTG, said the sting operation was conducted in the house of 34-year old Junel ‘Kano’ Andrade at around 5:30 p.m. in Barangay Naisud in Ibajay, Aklan, about 35 kilometers west of the capital town of Kalibo.

Recovered from the suspect were four sachets of suspected shabu.

Another suspect identified as Augusto ‘Nonoy’ Perucho, also a resident of Barangay Naisud, was also arrested for illegally possessing a .45 caliber pistol with six live ammunitions.

Also seized from Perucho were six sachets containing suspected shabu including a plastic sachet allegedly sold to the poseur-buyer for P1,000.

“Kahapon pa dapat ang operasyon sa kanila sa Kalibo kaso masyadong mailap ang mga suspects,” said Hofilena.

Perucho admitted he owns the handgun recovered by the police in the house of Andrade. However, he did not presented the firearm license documents during the police operations.

“Ibaligya kunta ro baril ngarun sa Kalibo, kaso owa nadayun kaina. Ga istorya kami sa idaeom it baeay ni Junel tag nag-operasyon ro mga pulis,” Perucho said in an interview by local radio station Bombo Radyo.

Both suspects denied selling illegal drugs.

Hofilena said the suspects will be charged for violations of Republic Act No. 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Acts of 2002 and for illegal possession of firearm.

They were detained at Ibajay police station pending filing of charges before the Aklan Provincial Prosecutor's Office in Kalibo, Aklan.
