Jobseekers, overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) and students
will no longer spend more than P1,000 for their transportation, hotel and food
if the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) satellite office is established in Kalibo, Aklan.
According to Aklan Governor Florencio Miraflores, the NBI targets to open its satellite office in the province of Aklan on April this year.
Miraflores said the opening of
an NBI servicing office upon his request to NBI regional director Manuel
Almendares would benefit hundreds of residents from Aklan who still have to go
to Iloilo City to secure clearances and other NBI services.
The provincial government will provide space, personnel and
office equipments for Aklan to have an online satellite office.
Miraflores said two employees have been trained in Iloilo
City that would attend exclusively for Aklanons seeking clearances.
The governor stressed "the satellite office will decongest
the number of applicants who had stay in line for long at the wee hours of the
night or at the early hours of the morning
in NBI regional office."
“By April, we are looking to establish the NBI satellite
office in Aklan,” Miraflores said.
In August 2012, the Sangguniang Panlalawigan of Aklan enacted
a resolution requesting the NBI head office in Manila through its Iloilo City
regional office to facilitate the immediate re-establishment of its satellite
office in Aklan.
To expedite the processing of clearance, the Aklan Provincial
Public Employment Service Office (PESO) urged the applicants to register in the
NBI clearance application website, secure an endorsement from PESO before
proceeding to NBI for processing and issuance of clearance.
Provincial PESO manager Vivian Ruiz-Solano said the procedures will be implemented until the new NBI system is institutionalized and a new satellite office is established in Aklan.
