Aklan Governor Florencio Miraflores said the
putting up of an NBI satellite office in Aklan in the second quarter this year will
ease the long lines of applicants in Iloilo City.
The congestion of clearance applicants outside
the NBI Iloilo office was relayed by Miraflores during the visit in Aklan of Manuel Almendares, director of
NBI-Region 6.
The governor said Aklanons applying for a
clearance are having a hard time processing their applications in NBI regional office
in Iloilo City.
NBI clearances are required by companies to determine if the applicant, who seeks for employment locally or abroad or applying for visa, has no pending criminal records with the NBI.
Some applicants while waiting for processing
of clearance applications have to sleep overnight outside the NBI Iloilo
office, Miraflores added.
To speed up the clearance processing, a dedicated line and a staff will serve the Aklanons in NBI office in
Iloilo City. Still, the province of Aklan
will have to purchase the equipment before the NBI could process and release
the NBI clearance.
“The assigned staff will have an in-house
training to handle the NBI services while we finalize the proposal by April to
have an NBI satellite office in Aklan,” he said over RGMA DyRU Super Radyo
Kalibo.
The horde of applicants is expected after contract of the service provider for the processing of NBI clearances expired on December 31 last year and the closure of satellite offices at shopping malls.
