Aklan’s ‘Gobyerno sa Baryo’ aims to bring services to the people

BY BOY RYAN B. ZABAL

Residents of 10 barangays in the town of Madalag will have direct and available services from the national and local government on February 15.

To be launched in Barangay Alas-as in Madalag is the “Gobyerno sa Baryo” campaign of Aklan Governor Florencio Miraflores and Aklan Rep. Teodorico Haresco, Jr.  The program is committed to bring the services and development programs closer to the constituents in the barangays.

Ten remote barangays in Madalag will be the recipients of the first-of-kind outreach program -  Cabangahan, Tigbawan, Singay, Medina, Panipiason, Mamba, Alas-as, Guinatu-an, Dit-ana and Logohon. These barangays can avail of the frontline services offered by the government.

Among the services are free legal consultation, mass feeding, engineering, veterinary, dental and medical, social welfare and agricultural and fishery.

Personnel from the Philippine Army, National Statistics Office (NSO) and the Provincial Treasurer’s Office, to name a few, will be on hand also to allow common residents access to the services of the government.

Many far-flung communities, for sure, welcomed the idea who had to travel long distances from Madalag to the capital town of Kalibo for government services.

Madalag is a fourth class municipality and about 33 kms south of Kalibo. The town has 25 barangays.

Miraflores, in his State of the Province Address on Wednesday, mentioned the quarterly activity ‘Gobyerno sa Baryo’ which intent to step up efforts to bring selfless services and development to the rural communities.

Sayod naton nga malisod gid para sa atong mga igmanghod kapin pa sa mga maeayo nga kabaranggayan to mag-pangayo it bulig sa atong opisina, ngani umpisa makaron hay aton nga tinguhaon nga mapadayon ro atong personal nga pagbisita sa atong mga kabarangayan,” the governor said in local dialect.
