The classy charm of Astoria Boracay
BY ARNOLD GAMBOA

When promenaders of Boracay reach Astoria Boracay in the island's upscale Station 1, it is almost certain that they would "pause and pose" to get their pictures taken in front of the resort's facade.

What makes the resort stand out is its beautiful modern architecture. It is uncluttered, tastefully decorated and very clean, which is pronounced even more by the immaculate white paint covering the walls of the entire resort. This wonderful creation is the collaboration of three experts in their respective fields; Architect Ed Gallego and the sister tandem of interior designers Ivy and Cynthia Almario.

All 39 brand new rooms are well-appointed and come in cozy hues of green, turquoise blue and earthy gray -- all designed and fitted to suit the beach and holiday lifestyle of the island. Room amenities include air conditioning, LCD TV with cable, telephones, hot and cold shower, refrigerator, in-room safe, coffee and tea service, bathroom amenities and slippers. Laundry service is also available. The resort's very hip al-fresco coffee shop, White Cafe features freestyle fusion cuisine carefully selected and prepared by its seasoned chefs.
The spacious coffee shop has a double volume ceiling giving a very airy ambiance. At night, a mouthwatering barbecue is set up by the beach where fresh seafood is the highlight. At this time, dining is made more appetizing as diners get to be serenaded while enjoying the savory food and the fresh sea breeze. There are function rooms for social events like beach weddings or parties, as well as, companies having out of town seminars. In-room dining service is also available until 10 p.m.

Guests who prefer a more relaxed and cozy setting may take pleasure in the resort's facilities like the bar/lounge on the second floor where a deck provides a panoramic view of the beach. Guests may also spend tranquil moments at the beautifully landscaped garden or do laps on the 20-meter long pool, or laze on the half-submerged pool loungers. The pool has also become an attraction of the resort most especially at night when it changes its colors and as it does, casts a beautiful glow on the facade of the resort's three clusters. Loungers are also available on the beach should guests prefer to stay close to the sea.

Power supply is not a problem because of the two back-up generators. It also has a water filtration system and 24-hour security system for its guests' safety.

However, more than the beauty and elegance of the resort, Astoria Boracay takes pride in its well-trained and courteous staff who have made many guests keep coming back. It's the personalized service that they remember and makes them refer the resort to their friends. Staying in Astoria Boracay is indeed a must experience that every visitor of Boracay will enjoy.
