KALIBO, Aklan – Food lovers out there, check this out!
Six days of sumptuous and nightly music await the residents of Kalibo and tourists in the annual food festival.
Targeting both locals and visitors, the “Kalibo Food Festival Goes Green” returns for the 16th year from June 18 to 23, bringing the must-try and specialty dishes into the spotlight of San Juan Fiesta held every 24th of June.
Twelve member-restaurants of the Kalibo Ati-Atihan Tourism Council (KATC) will showcase the irresistible and much-loved local cuisine, sold at affordable prices, starting this Saturday.
The food festival is being held in cooperation with the local government unit of Kalibo in honor of the town’s patron saint, St. John the Baptist.
To kick-off the Saturday opening, pinoy reggae band Brownman Revival will perform live in Kalibo Magsaysay Park. The band is composed of Onard (keyboards), Alphy (guitars), Dennis (drums), Dino (vocals), Jayson (trombone), Ambet (trumpet), Jao (bass) and Januarie (percussions).
In the past food festivals, the mid-year event originally billed as “Kalibo Food Festival sa Kalye” was held along S. Martelino Street near the Kalibo Pastrana Park.
But in 2008, the organizers cancelled the food festival after super typhoon “Frank’ devastated the capital town of Kalibo on June 20. In 2009, KATC transferred the food festival in Kalibo Magsaysay Park.
On 22nd of June 2011, our very own in Kalibo will be showcased featuring "BROAD_BAND". See you guys/gals around. Afterall, there is no entrance fee. It's FREE for all!!!
