Mayor Lachica inducts new APS officers, hails APS' role in tourism promotion

KALIBO, Aklan – Mayor William Lachica has inducted on Sunday evening the new set of officers and board of directors of Aklan Photographic Society (APS).
Inducted into office were president Ramel Buncalan, vice president Mark Leslie Laguna, secretary Shiela Tamado, treasurer Arnie Mae Dangan, auditor Juler Fernandez, press relations officer Boy Ryan Zabal and business managers Kristine Gaspar and Christian Darvin Seraspi.
Lachica also administered the oath of office of the new members of board of directors. They were chairman Nolyn Yap, vice chairman Joel Juliano and the members were Bart Baylon, Lyn Laguna, Michael Chrency Magallanes, Mark Cirlou Menez, Christian James Abogadie and Nelson Talidong, Jr.
APS members – Juvy Popes, Rocky Chu, Reynan Villareal, Clemence Dalida, Jess Marquez, Mark Jonathan Tienzo and Paul John Mirto were also inducted by Lachica.
In his speech, Buncalan urged his APS members to support the activities of the organization, primarily, in the promotion of tourism in the province of Aklan.
Founded in 2008, APS is a mix of amateur and professional photographers in the province of Aklan. Among the activities of APS are field trips that provide opportunities to photograph the great outdoors in Aklan, seminar-workshops by local and national photographers to enhance the skills of APS members and photography exhibitions.
Mayor Lachica said APS has been the partner of the local government unit of Kalibo in tourism promotion and he expects more joint collaboration between the municipal government and APS, especially in tourism events of Kalibo, throughout the years.
Kalibo Sto. Nino Ati-Atihan Foundation, Inc. (Kasafi) chairman Albert Menez, who was present during the induction, also recognized the voluntary efforts of APS members in the 2011 Kalibo Ati-Atihan festival, adding, the 2012 photo contest “Faces of Ati” will be supported by Kasafi to encourage local and international photographers to showcase the pageantry of the Kalibo festival.
Kasafi officers Lilibeth Goboy, Judith Malapit and Jemina Trinidad and Libacao Sangguniang Bayan member Vincent Navarosa also graced the affair at Buncalan’s residence in Barangay Andagao, this town.
