Aklan's regreening and beautification contest winners bared

KALIBO, Aklan – The provincial government of Aklan announced this year’s winners in the regreening and beautification contest.
A total of 167 barangays and 64 individuals throughout Aklan joined the yearly regreening program initiated in 2008 by Aklan Governor Carlito Marquez.
In the barangay category for the Western side, Barangay Dongon West, Numancia, Aklan bagged the top prize of P50,000 followed by Sta. Cruz Bigaa, Lezo, Aklan for P35,000 and Tagas, Tangalan, Aklan for third place (P20,000).
The consolation winners were Poblacion, Malinao, Aklan; Poblacion, Makato, Aklan; Panayakan, Tangalan, Aklan; Sta. Cruz, Lezo, Aklan and Dapdap, Tangalan, Aklan. They will received P5,000 as consolation prizes.
Eleanor Magallanes of Poblacion, Nabas, Aklan garnered the P15,000 first prize in the Western side residential category. Ramonito Rebustes of Nagustan, Nabas, Aklan got second place for P10,000 and Ernesto Salvadivo of Nagustan, Nabas, Aklan, 3rd place for P5,000.
The consolation winners of P2,500 each are Steven Valenzuela of Nagustan, Nabas, Aklan; Blas Amacio of Poblacion, Nabas, Aklan; Gerry Revestir of Sta. Cruz, Lezo, Aklan; Zenaida Cezar of Gibon, Nabas, Aklan; Godelyn Lambito of Toledo, Nabas, Aklan
In the Eastern side barangay category, Barangay Calizo, Balete, Aklan was adjudged first place (P50,000), Tabaao, Banga, Aklan for second place (P35,000) and Feliciano, Balete, Aklan, 3rd place for P20,000.
The consolation winners for P5,000 each were Fulgencio, Balete, Aklan, the barangays of Poblacion, Libas and Tabayon, all in Banga, Aklan, and Poblacion, Balete, Aklan.
Mary Claire Dela Cruz of Libas, Banga, Aklan got first place (P15,000) in the Eastern side residential category. Mateo Soncuya, Jr., also of Libas, Banga, Aklan took second place (P10,000) and Babeth Guanco of Ochando, New Washington, Aklan for third place (P5,000).
Mary Ann Chu of Agbanawan, Banga, Aklan; Wilma Traje of Tambac, New Washington, Aklan; Osaias Retolado of Pagsanjan, Banga, Aklan; Jovy Bautista of Polo, New Washington, Aklan and Independencia Mansayon of Poblacion, New Washington, Aklan were declared consolation winners for P2,500 cash prize each.
All winning entries will be conferred their prizes during the 55th Aklan Day anniversary celebration on April 25, 2011.
