Aklan PNP: Gunrunner suspect arrested

KALIBO, Aklan - A 56-year old alleged gunrunner was arrested by combined elements of Aklan Police Provincial Office (APPO) and the Aklan Provincial Public Safety Company (APPSC) in coordination with the Kalibo police station on Monday morning.
The entrapment operation conducted at Purok 3, Barangay Tinigao, this town, led to the arrest of Edgar Pastrana and the recovery of a cache of firearms and ammunitions.
Seized from the suspect's possession were an Armscor air gun rifle, caliber 45 Colt, an unidentified caliber pistol with serial no. 16077013, caliber 45 magazine without ammunitions, two magazines with seven live ammunitions and a 22 rimpire ammunition.

Acting Aklan police director Senior Superintendent Cornelio Defensor said the police operation stemmed from information of Pastrana's illicit activities of selling guns.
Pastrana also voluntarily surrendered a caliber 45 holster, 33 live ammunitions of caliber .45 and .22 and a cellular phone during the buy-bust operation at around 11:45 a.m. at Barangay Tinigao.
PO2 Nida Gregas, APPO Information Officer, said the suspect was nabbed in the act of selling a firearm to a policeman posing as poseur buyer.
The suspect is facing charges for violation of Presidential Degree 1866 as amended by Republic Act No. 8294 or the unlawful / illegal possession, manufacture, selling of firearms and ammunition, according to APPSC commander Superintendent Roderick Condag.
Pastrana and the recovered evidences have been placed under custody by the police for proper disposition and further questioning.
