KALIBO, Aklan - The growing collaboration between the local government unit of Kalibo and the private sector is crucial to the success of next year's Ati-Atihan festival.
This early, Kalibo mayor William Lachica lauded the strong partnership of the Kalibo Sto. Nino Ati-Atihan Foundation, Inc. (Kasafi) and the local officials for steering a number of activities aimed at promoting the 2011 Ati-Atihan festival.
In order to encourage private sector participation, Lachica entered into a memorandum of agreement with Kasafi chairman Albert Menez as principal organizer of the festival in honor of Senor Sto. Nino.
"The stakeholders in the business community, although they are also busy, have taken the challenge to help the local government. We should continuously recognize the role of the private sector as partners in other endeavors," the mayor said in expressing his satisfaction of Kasafi's support in the weeklong events slated from January 10 to 16, 2011.

Lachica said the united approach among key players would sustain the efforts in promoting the Kalibo festival as the grandest and colorful festivals in the country. The private sector-led Kasafi hopes to draw in devotees, balikbayans and tourists with exciting calendar of events.
