KALIBO, Aklan - Makato Mayor Ramon Legaspi, Jr. was elected Cluster Island President for Visayas of the League of Municipalities of the Philippines (LMP).
Legaspi, president of LMP-Aklan Chapter, assumed the post of former Kalibo mayor and now Sangguniang Panlalawigan member Raymar Rebaldo in the national directorate during an election held at Crown Plaza Galleria Hotel in Ortigas, Pasig City on October 7.
The island cluster in the Visayas covers Western Visayas (Region 6), Central Visayas (Region 7) and Eastern Visayas (Region 8) with 16 provincial chapter presidents.
The new national league president is Mayor Strike Revilla of Bacoor, Cavite. He is the brother of Senator Ramon 'Bong' Revilla
Out of 80 chapter presidents, 76 mayors joined the election of officers of LMP national directorate, the principal policy-making and advisory body whose functions include the formulation of policies of the league.
The national directorate is composed of all incumbent chapter presidents and all immediate past provincial chapter presidents who are still incumbent mayors, however, only incumbent chapter presidents can vote and be voted upon.
Other members of the LMP National Directorate are executive vice-president for operations, executive vice-president for internal affairs, executive vice-president for external affairs, executive vice-president for special concerns, island cluster president for Luzon, island cluster president for Mindanao, national treasurer, national auditor, business manager, public relations officer and general legal counsel.
