Boracay Garden Resort undergoes P80M renovation
BY ANGELA LOPEZ DE LEON

Boracay Regency Group has earmarked about P80 million for the renovation and beautification of a 201-room resort in Boracay.
"We have allotted P60 to P80 million for the renovations of the Boracay Garden Resort. The ongoing renovations will probably be completed by November," said Henry Chusuey, Boracay Regency chairman.
Chusuey said he discovered the Boracay Garden Resort, formerly Hotel Seraph, in 2009.
"I got the resort by accident. I wasn’t really looking for a new property to develop in the island. I was a bit surprised when the Korean owner came to see me late last year and offered the place," said Chusuey.
Chusuey said that the on-going renovation centered in improving its facilities and services as well as the direction of its marketing strategy to make the resort more attractive not just to the Koreans, but to locals as well.
"There already is an existing market for this resort. But we still need to improve it. We need to upgrade it by the way our competitors upgraded," Chusuey said.
"With more than 200 rooms and land area of two hectares, I know there is a lot we can do with its design, especially with the landscaping," he added.
Boracay Garden Resort rests on a two-hectare property located at the center of White Beach Station 2 with easy access to both the beach front and main road.
The resort has 201 well-appointed rooms with charming and elegant interiors. It has a mix of deluxe and premiere rooms, as well as premiere rooms with direct access to the pool and family rooms that can fit up to 6 persons.
"We are indeed very proud of our newest acquisition. Boracay Garden Resort’s cozy ambience, high standard of customer service, and value for money rates will make your stay in the resort truly enjoyable and relaxing," said Chusuey.
Each spacious room has a private terrace, wi-fi access, bath tub with separate shower area, individually controlled air conditioning, cable television, direct dial phone, in-room safe, coffee and tea-making facilities.
The resort’s modern and Mediterranean-styled accommodations are surrounded by two swimming pools, landscaped gardens and al fresco restaurant and bar.
It also features private KTV rooms with modern equipment, gym and fitness center and 24-hour standby generators and security.
A private pathway from the resort to the beachfront was also constructed to make it easier for the tourists to hit the beach and enjoy the crystal-clear waters and powdery-white sand of the island.
In addition to the on-going renovation, the resort now has a beachfront with 34 beach beds. This reserved area is ideal for guests to lounge and enjoy the scenery while getting the perfect tan.
Mario Gatmaitan, Food and Beverage manager, said the resort offers an assortment of guilt-free dishes and a range of activities that will make their guests enjoy their stay in the resort.
"Our menu has more than just a healthy reputation going for it. Aside from making feel good and live longer, our cuisine is also delectable to the palate. We see to that on a daily basis in the kitchen," said Gatmaitan.
Among the resort’s specialties are pan-seared scallop with ponzu vinaigrette and fresh shitake mushroom, seafood crepe with white wine cream sauce, char-grilled lapu-lapu fillet in saffron juice. And a surf and turf duo of black tiger prawns and prime beef fillet mignon served with mashed pumpkin potato and asparagus with a burgundy sauce emulsion.
Guests can also feast on gastronomic delights such as the shrimp ukoy, classic ceasar salad served with ahi-tuna and the mozzarella caprese with basil balsamic vinaigrette.
Gatmaitan said that they also serve authentic Filipino specialties as well as Korean dishes.
"Only the freshest ingredients are used in all the dishes. We give importance to buying top quality produce in the market. We take pride in preparing healthy food, cocktails and drinks but we also consider the needs and requests of guests who are not really diet conscious," Gatmaitan noted.
Boracay Garden Resort offers new leisure and pleasure packages, which include roundtrip airfare via SEAIR, three days accommodation, daily breakfast and dinner with roundtrip land and sea transfers.
Promo packages start for as low as P8,406 for triple occupancy and P8,994 for double occupancy. Promo period is from June 1 to September 30, 2010.
