Race to bowling cup Final Four heats up

KALIBO, Aklan – In the final day of elimination round, Bravo Media, Alpha Media, Judiciary II and Charlie Media are in a tight race for the last two slots of the semifinals in the 3rd Vice Governor Gabrielle C. Quimpo Aklan Media Bowling Cup.
But focus of today’s matches will be on the Judiciary II-Charlie Media setto as a loss by the Charlie Media will give the Judiciary II an automatic semifinals berth.
Alpha Media battles Bravo Media at 5 p.m. in another crucial elimination match with both teams out to end their three-game skid in the bowling tournament.
Last night, Judiciary I routed the Aklan Police Provincial Office-Philippine National Police, 690-572, to claim the top spot. Judiciary I (5-1) formalized its entry to the Final Four along with Aklan PNP (4-2) in the seven-team bowling cup slated from April 19 to 25 at Q-Zone Bowling Center.
Cris Gubatina rolled the lanes with 180 pinfalls, Giovanni Paul Gomez had 137, Greg Tañeza added 136, Nicoaron Roldan contributed 123 and Melinda Jalbuna tallied 114 pinfalls for Judiciary I.
NUP Wilyn Magsisi led the Aklan PNP with 141 pinfalls, PO2 Nida Gregas and PO1 Don Briones with identical 121 pinfalls, PO3 Rollie Morales scored 97 and PO3 Maricel Guevarra with 92 pinfalls.
Integrated Bar of the Philippines (IBP)-Aklan (1-5) also run down the Bravo Media and win 499-492, ending their campaign in the annual bowling cup with a close victory, thanks to the undermanned Bravo Media.
Flosemer Chris Gonzales finished with 129 pinfalls for IBP Aklan, Ervie Taytayon had 110, Niflem Meren added 96, Ricardo Ibarreta, Jr. hauled 95 pinfalls and Shermaine Atienza with 69.
Bravo Media relied on Arnel Arrieta, Jr. of Radyo Boracay with game-best 159 pinfalls, Odon Bandiola of Aklan Media Forum wound up 148, Pempe Dulce Besario of CBIS Hot FM had 105 pinfalls, William Arguelles of Aklan Media Forum and Jujet Reyes of IBC DyRG combined for 80 pinfalls.
In the battle of court employees, Ramon Felipe Manuel led the Judiciary II to its third straight victory, 580-510, over tournament-leading Judiciary I. Mayor scored 147 pinfalls, Alvin Mindanao had 134, Roderick Robillo with 119, Danilo Yap contributed 103 and Marissa Peralta tallied 77 pinfalls.
Tañeza led the Judiciary I with 117 pinfalls, Gubatina had 113, Gomez registered 111 pinfalls, Nicoaron Roldan and Melinda Jalbuna combined for 169 pinfalls.
