Bravo Media leads 2010 Aklan Media Bowling Cup

KALIBO, Aklan – Showing its high-intensity in the opening matches, Bravo Media scored back-to-back victories to lead the seven-team 3rd Vice Governor Gabrielle C. Quimpo Aklan Media Bowling Cup at Q-Zone Bowling Center yesterday.
But it was southpaw Jethro Laserna of Aklan Media Forum, who stole the marquee showdown last night, with a tournament-high 197 pinfalls to power the Alpha Media past the Aklan Police Provincial Office/Philippine National Police, 645-576.
Laserna knocked down four consecutive strikes in the 7th to 10th frames to lead the Alpha Media to its first victory. Joselito Edwin Ramos of the Philippine Information Agency also stepped up with 158 pinfalls, Ronnel Barrida of RGMA DyRU Super Radyo scored 119, Ron Bautista of CBIS Hot FM had 97 and Jinkie Jane Balairos of Love Radio Kalibo rolled 74 for the Alpha Media.
SPO3 Benny Jones Mendoza had a solid game of 174 pinfalls while NUP Wilyn Magsisi had 113, PO3 James Bantique posted 113 pinfalls, PO1 Don Briones and PO2 Nida Gregas backed up with 94 and 80, respectively, for the Aklan PNP.
Meanwhile, Doddie Balairos of RGMA DyRU Super Radyo exploded with a game-high 163 pinfalls for the Bravo Media against favored Judiciary II, 626-595.
Arnel Arrieta, Jr. of Radyo Boracay wound up with 137 pinfalls, Odon Bandiola of Aklan Media Forum had 128, Jujet Reyes of IBC DyRG Budyong closed out with 105 and Pempe Dulce Besario had 93 pinfalls for the tournament-leading Bravo Media.
Ramon Manuel Felipe Mayor of Judiciary II torched the lanes with 155 pinfalls, Danilo Yap and Roderick Robillo combined for 220 pinfalls, Judge Lollie Ureta-Villaruel chipped in with 112 and Alvin Mindanao posted 108 pinfalls.
Bravo Media also kept its momentum alive by trashing Charlie Media, 572-614, in its second game.
Arrieta of Radyo Boracay fired with 140 pinfalls, Bandiola of Aklan Media Forum contributed 132, Besario of CBIS Hot FM felled 119 pinfalls, Reyes of IBC DyRG Budyong had 114 and Balairos of RGMA DyRU Super Radyo with 109 pinfalls for the Bravo Media.
Marlon Salvador of Kalibo Cable TV led the Charlie Media campaign with 135 pinfalls, Lucy Villaruel of IBC DyRG Budyong had 123, Ronnel Irodestan of CBIS Hot FM
In the opening game, Efren Galvan scored 138 pinfalls, lifting the Judiciary I to a 581-473 victory over the Integrated Bar of the Philippines (IBP)-Aklan. Cris Gubatina added 128 pinfalls, Greg TaƱeza (125), Nicoaron Roldan (114) and Melinda Jalbuna tallied 76 pinfalls for the heavily favored Judiciary I.
Giovanni Paul Gomez topped the IBP-Aklan with 134 pinfalls while Ervie Taytayon and Flosemer Chris Gonzales combined for 200 pinfalls, Niflem Meren scored 98 and Sharmaine Atienza struggled with 41 pinfalls.
In today’s games, fresh from their 645-576 win over Aklan PNP last night, the Alpha Media is slightly favored when they play the IBP-Aklan at 5 p.m.
IBP-Aklan is hoping to rebound from an opening day loss to the Judiciary I.
Locked in a four-way tie with an identical 0-1 record, Charlie Media and Aklan PNP clash at 5 p.m. with both teams out to boost their bids for the Final Four cross-over semifinals.
IBP-Aklan still have to face Judiciary II (0-1) and Bravo Media guns for the solo lead (2-0) against Judiciary I (1-0) at 6:30 p.m.
To jump start the opening salvo of the Aklan Press Freedom Week, Aklan Governor Gabrielle Calizo Quimpo and Kapisanan ng mga Brodkaster ng Pilipinas (KBP)-Aklan chapter performance officer and RMN DyKR station manager Jerome Vega graced the opening ceremony along with Aklan United Media Association (AUMA) president Winston Carillo, National Union of Journalists of the Philippines (NUJP) Aklan chapter chairman Jujet Reyes, Aklan Media Forum managing director William Arguelles, Publishers Association of the Philippines, Inc. (PAPI) Director for Visayas and Aklan Police and Defense Press Corps president Boy Ryan Zabal and Aklan Sangguniang Panlalawigan Press Corps president Arnel Arrieta, Jr.
The event is held as part of the historic celebration from April 19 to 25, which was declared by the Aklan Sangguniang Panlalawigan as Aklan Press Freedom Week by virtue of Resolution No. 2010-046.
