Alpha Media captures 2010 Aklan Media Bowling Cup,
Aklan PNP in second place

KALIBO, Aklan - Indeed the never say die spirit is alive and well at Q-Zone Bowling Center.
Alpha Media registered a come-from-behind victory over Aklan Police Provincial Office-Philippine National Police, 680-673, to claim the 3rd Vice Governor Gabrielle Calizo Quimpo Aklan Media Bowling Cup last night.
The champion withstood a strong start by Aklan PNP’s four players - PO2 Nida Gregas with 124, NUP Wilyn Magsisi had 101 pinfalls, PO1 Don Briones tallied 151 and Inspector Belshazzar Villanoche contributed 144 pinfalls for a combined 520 pinfalls against Alpha Media’s 480 pinfalls.
Ron Bautista of CBIS Hot FM scored 114, Jhinkie Jane Balairos of Love Radio Kalibo wound up 93 pinfalls, Ronel Barrida of RGMA DyRU Super Radyo got 126 and southpaw Jethro Laserna of Aklan Media Forum registered 147 pinfalls for the Alpha Media.
Joselito Edwin Ramos of Philippine Information Agency led his team came from a 40-pinfall deficit to outscore SPO3 Benny Jones Mendoza of Aklan PNP, 200-153 in the last match of the championship battle.
Ramos torched the lanes with three strikes against Mendoza’s lone strike in the last six frames to help the Alpha Media captured the crown.
Meanwhile, Charlie Media dominated Judiciary I, 663-572, to grab the second runner-up honors at the close of 2010 Aklan Media Bowling Cup, which is one of the highlights of Aklan Press Freedom celebration from April 19 to 25.
Ronnel Irodestan of CBIS Hot FM rolled 168 pinfalls followed by Lucy Villaruel of IBC DyRG Budyong with 147, Claribel dela Cruz of Aklan Reporter had 138 pinfalls, Arnel Relampago of Kalibo Cable TV scored 113 and Hagbong dela Cruz of Aklan Reporter chipped in 97 pinfalls.
Giovanni Paul Gomez powered Judiciary I with 135 pinfalls, Cris Gubatina added 123, Wendell Villanueva had 118, Greg TaƱeza had 112 and Melinda Jalbuna finished with 84 pinfalls.
In the special awards, Alpha Media also grabbed the Highest Team Score (730), Joselito Edwin Ramos of Alpha Media for Highest Individual Score-Men (200) and Claribel dela Cruz of Charlie Media for Highest Individual Score-Women (150).
Aside from Alpha Media, Aklan PNP, Charlie Media and Judiciary I, three other teams joined the annual bowling cup - Judiciary II, Integrated Bar of the Philippines, Inc. and Bravo Media.
