Lights, music...Boracay!
BY ED BIADO

At the height of summer’s party season, one island is the center of all the activities this side of the globe. Boracay, the country’s most famous beach, is on everybody’s lips when talking about the funnest, most hyped up and most exciting beach-based events. Everything has been done in Boracay—from celebrity quasi-sports meets to simple product samplings, from all-night dancetravaganzas to beauty pageants.
The go-to venue for many a clubbing event organizer, the one-big-nonstop-party that is Boracay has virtually seen it all; grand productions, world-famous DJs and Manila’s glitterati migrating to the island for a few days to be part of the fun.
One party that will bring a little something extra to the white sandy hotspot is the Boracay Laser Light Party, which will take place on April 10 (Saturday night) at the beachfront of the posh Pearl of the Pacific Boracay Resort & Spa over at Station 1. It promises to shine some much-needed laser beams on the beach’s night summer sky.
Many parties use lasers to complement the music and set the ambient mood. But for the first time in Boracay, the lasers themselves will be the main focus. It’s actually gonna be more of a lounge-y setup than a club gig. Party-goers will be treated to the sight of flashing lights that will wondrously consume the entire venue in a magnificent display, all the while being accompanied by the latest club bangers for those who feel like getting their groove on (which I’m sure they be feelin’!).
A wide mix of danceable music genres will be provided to amp up the grandiosity of the flashing lights by spinmasters Mars Miranda, B_Cal and Alex Wong. MC Golden Boy will be on support the whole time. A little background on the DJs...
Mars is one of Manila’s most sought after hip-hop turntable controllers, offering a unique sound that fuses old-school hip-hop with R&B, soul, funk, classic disco and a little bit of rock. He has performed all over the world and scratched alongside the likes of Steve Aoki, Junior Sanchez and a lot more top DJs.
Meanwhile, Brian Calip, more popularly known as B_Cal, started his career in the San Francisco Bay Area and moved to the Philippines when he saw the potential of the local club scene. His personality-driven sound can be heard at some of the metro’s most exclusive clubs and private parties since 2004.
Alex, on the other hand, dabbles in hip-hop, R&B, house, electronica, progressive, new wave, mash-up and dancehall. His ability to booth up in different genres explains why he has DJ-ed at practically every club in the metro and at least four hotspots in Boracay. He’s also famous in the underground scene.
Door charges are at P200 and tickets are pre-selling for P150 at the Pearl of the Pacific from March 25 to April 8.
Produced by RACPAR Events, this event is presented by Levi’s; co-presented by The BaR, Pearl of the Pacific Resort & Spa and Seair; with major sponsors Schick, Banana Boat and The Manila Times. It’s supported by Super Bock, Whirlpool, Fujidenzo, Focalcast, 103.5 Max FM, 99.5 RT, UR 105.9 FM, Radio Boracay 106.1 FM, Meg Magazine, Status Magazine, Circuit, ClickTheCity.com, Bistro Valhalla, Residencia Boracay, Fat Jimmy’s Resort, Patio Pacific Boracay, Gold’s Gym, Strip: The Ministry of Waxing, Browhaus, Odyssey, O Music and Video, Odysseylive.net, Odyssey Digital Club, Culture Shock Design Studio and Daniel Tan Photography; with official TV partners AXN, AXN Beyond and Animax.
