KALIBO, Aklan – Police Regional Office (PRO)-6 Chief of Directorial Staff Senior Supt. Edgar Layon and Aklan. Rep. Florencio Miraflores led the inauguration and blessing of the Aklan Police Provincial Office (APPO) annex building and grandstand yesterday morning.
The grandstand, at the middle of Camp Pastor Martelino, is dedicated to the men and women of the Aklan Philippine National Police (PNP), who unselfishly committed themselves and continuously steer the PNP to accomplish its mandated mission of maintaining peace and order, and to serve and protect the people of Aklan.
Senior Superintendent Epifanio Bragais, Jr. said the annex building will housed the different support units of the Philippine National Police (PNP) – the Highway Patrol Group, Provincial Internal Affairs Service (PIAS), FESAGS Aklan, Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG), Provincial Health Service and the Aklan Provincial Public Safety Management Company, except the maritime and aviation support groups.
Through the initiatives of former Aklan police director Senior Supt. Benigno Durana, Jr, and Aklan Engineering District Engineer Roberto Cabigas, the grandstand started its repair and rehabilitation on August 10, 2009 and was completed on December 10, 2009.

The annex building beside the St. Ignatius Loyola chapel was also constructed on August 13, 2009 and was finished on February 4, 2010.
The provincial police director also thanked the support of the national government through President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo, Public Works and Highways Secretary Hermogenes Ebdane, Aklan Rep. Miraflores, Aklan Governor Carlito Marquez and Senior Supt. Clarence Guinto for the completion of the two-storey building.
Before the blessing of the new annex building by PRO-6 regional chaplain Supt. Joel Barallas, DPWH-Aklan Assistant District Engineer Ludovico Ambubuyog turned over the symbolic key to Senior Supt. Layon and Senior Supt. Bragais for the Aklan PNP.
Camp Pastor Martelino, then the Aklan Constabulary Command, was activated on August 1, 1956. The camp in Barangay New Buswang, this town, was donated by the heirs of the late Philippine Army Colonel and first Superintendent of the Philippine Military Academy (PMA) Pastor Martelino.
APPO also exercises operational control and supervision over 17 municipal police stations and the Boracay Special Tourist Police Office.
