KALIBO, Aklan - Governor Carlito Marquez cited the concerted efforts of law enforcement agencies and the provincial government in maintaining a stable and relatively manageable peace and order in Aklan.
Marquez, chairman of the Provincial Peace and Order Council (PPOC), urged the Philippine National Police (PNP) and the Philippine Army to enforce the law and provide internal security and public safety.
The governor met the top officials of 614-strong Aklan Police Provincial Office (APPO) headed by Senior Superintendent Clarence Quinto and Supt. Arnold Ardiente to tackle issues and updates on security of Aklan, particularly the island of Boracay .
"The peace and order throughout Aklan is relatively peaceful. Without peace, there is no order. If there is no order, there is no peace,” Marquez said.
In his report to the Provincial Peace and Order Council, Guinto said there was no significant incident with the local communist movement – the Central Front Committee and the expansion guerilla fronts of Northern Front Committee.
For the past two months, the PNP conducted five positive drug operations and arrested eight suspects. Forty seven crime incidents were recorded and 44 were solved or a crime solution efficiency of 93.61 percent.
Guinto also noted the rising cases of theft and robbery by juvenile delinquents. Out of two operations for illegal fishing, the police arrested 40 persons and confiscated four fishing boats. Six operations were also conducted for Illegal logging, he added.
“We have to bring the PNP closer to the community, focus on Boracay issues and re-invigorate the campaign on illegal activities,” Guinto said.
The 301st Army Brigade based in Camp Hernandez, Dingle, Iloilo also described the peace and order in Aklan as ‘relatively peaceful’.
