KALIBO, Aklan – Presidential brother-in-law Negros Occidental Rep. Ignacio ‘Iggy’ Arroyo will administer the oath of office of the winning candidates of Team Unity-Tibyog Akean in the province on June 25, Monday.
Two-termer Aklan Gov. Carlito Marquez (Lakas-Christian Muslim Democrats) and Aklan Rep. Florencio Miraflores of Kabalikat ng Malayang Pilipino (Kampi) lead majority of town mayors and Sangguniang Panlalawigan members at Gov. Augusto B. Legaspi Sports Complex for the grand oath taking.
Out of 17 towns, Tibyog it Akean dominated the May 14, 2007 elections with 14 local mayors - incumbents Raymar Rebaldo (Kalibo), Ramon Legaspi Jr (Makato), Dominador Ilio Jr (Malinao), Victor Fernandez (Lezo), Rex Gubatina (Madalag), Charito Navarosa (Libacao) and Romeo Dalisay (Nabas).
The newcomers are Elverita Templonuevo (Numancia), Quezon Labindao (Buruanga), Gene Fuentes (Tangalan), Maria Lourdes Miraflores (Ibajay), Edgar Peralta (New Washington), Delfina Ramos (Batan) and Kathryne Refol (Altavas).
Arroyo, regional chairman of Kampi and younger brother of the First Gentleman Jose Miguel Arroyo, is expected also to sworn into office the elected Aklan Sangguniang Panlalawigan members led by Selwyn Ibarreta, Plaridel Morania, Jose Yap, Pedro Garcia, Jean Rodriquez and Gerick Templonuevo, all of the ruling local coalition Tibyog Akean.
Vice governor-elect Gabrielle Calizo of Nacionalista Party-Kusog it Akean sworn into office by Senate President Manuel Villar last June 15 along with elected mayors Ceciron Cawaling (Malay), Noemi Cordero (Balete), Antonio Maming (Banga) and SP members Daisy Briones and Rodson Mayor.
