KALIBO, Aklan – The house of the vice governor of this province in this capital town was fired upon by a man who approached the house purportedly looking for the vice governor Wednesday evening.

He also discounted the involvement of people having to do with controversial criminal cases he is handling as a lawyer. "I am surprised at this development since I have no known personal enemies," said Tolentino, a Tibyog Akean stalwart and Lakas leader in the province.
Initial investigation showed that the incident happened at around 10:30 p.m. It was learned that the gunman knocked at the gate of the Tolentino residence at Capitol Subd. here about 150 meters from the Aklan capitol.
The man identified himself as "Jun Jorque" to Tolentino’s wife, Ellen, the provincial human resources officer, when she asked the suspect why he wanted to see her husband.
It was at this juncture when the vice governor went out and joined Ellen at the gate and asked for the visitor’s name. The suspect gave another name and introduced himself as "Romeo dela Cruz."
Sensing danger, Ellen advised the suspect to return the following day. The suspect walked towards his owner type jeed parked in front of the Pepsi Cola warehouse, about 10 meters away. A few minutes later, the couple heard three gunshots.
Ellen asked the Kalibo Police through SPO1 Edward Francisco and PO3 Teddy Requeja to look into the shooting. Chief Insp. Arnold Ardiente, chief of the Kalibo Police, said police probers recovered empty slugs at the scene and are still investigating the type of weapon from which they were fired.
"We are looking for the suspect with the help of witnesses," Tolentino said.
The incumbent vice governor is seeking reelection against former Aklan solon Gabrielle Calizo of Kusog it Akean in the May 14 polls. Tolentino said said "his reelection bid is supported by town mayors and barangay captains belonging to Tibyog Akean."
